The Highly Skilled Migrant Program or HSMP is the type of visa that is intended for highly skilled workers who want to work in United Kingdom. How does this work?
This is run by a point based system. The applicants must have at least 75 points to qualify. This is regularly issued for a period of 24 months. Then they will be given an option to have an HSMP Extension for three years if only they become successful in their careers. After five years of working in the UK, they are already eligible to apply for indefinite leave to remain so that they can stay in UK. They have to be familiar with the strict requirements for residency especially in this application.
All the applicants will go through the general application. This is the first stage in processing the HSMP Extension. They can either submit their application via post or by an appointment at the UK Border Agency Public Enquiry Offices. Those who applied through post are expected to wait about six to ten weeks to get the result. But for those who applied in person, the result will be received with in the day.
